The Delhi government has significantly bolstered its infrastructure development initiatives with substantial investments in road projects. In the fiscal year 2024-25, the government allocated ₹1,768 crore for various road and flyover projects, aiming to enhance connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion. Planned developments include:T
Barapullah Phase-III: An extension of the existing Barapullah elevated road to improve east-west connectivity.
Double-decker Metro Flyovers: Proposed flyovers at Brijpuri junction through Karawal Nagar and Gonda, and from Rani Jhansi Road junction to Azadpur corridor, to streamline traffic flow.
Additional Flyovers and Underpasses: Projects such as flyovers connecting Nand Nagari to Gagan cinema junction, Anand Vihar ROB to Apsara Border ROB, and an underpass at Outer Ring Road Mukarba Chowk are in the pipeline.T
Furthermore, the government has made significant strides in rural infrastructure by earmarking ₹900 crore to construct approximately 1,000 kilometers of roads across over 360 villages. This initiative is expected to stimulate local economies and improve accessibility. Atishi, the Finance Minister, highlighted that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to modernize Delhi's infrastructure, noting that over the past nine years, 30 new corridors, flyovers, bridges, and underpasses have been constructed to enhance intra-city traffic flow.
