Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Z-Morh Tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring year-round connectivity to the Sonamarg tourist destination. Constructed at over ₹2,700 crore, the 6.5 km tunnel bypasses landslide-prone areas and includes advanced safety features like an emergency escape passage. The project began in 2015 and became operational in 2024, marking a significant milestone in regional infrastructure development. Alongside the Zojila Tunnel, it enhances connectivity to Baltal and Ladakh, benefiting both civilian and military transit. This transformative development is expected to unlock the region’s full potential for trade, tourism, and strategic operations.
