1000 Crores for Rural Roads - Revanth Reddy CM Telangana

  1. On January 4, 2025, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the allocation of ₹1,000 crore for rural road construction to enhance connectivity across the state.

     

    Key Details:

    • Funding Release: The Finance Department has been directed to disburse ₹150 crore monthly until June 2025 to support this initiative.

       

    • Road Design Update: Recognizing increased vehicular traffic, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to redesign rural roads to accommodate modern vehicles, moving beyond dimensions suited for bullock carts and bicycles.

       

    • Comprehensive Connectivity: The plan includes developing single-lane roads connecting villages to mandals and double-lane roads from mandals to district headquarters, ensuring seamless travel across regions.

       

    • Quality Standards: Uniform construction standards will be applied to roads under both Panchayat Raj and Roads & Buildings (R&B) departments to ensure consistent quality.

       

    • Immediate Repairs: The Chief Minister has ordered prompt repairs of existing pothole-ridden roads to improve current travel conditions.

       

    • Inclusive Development: The initiative mandates that every panchayat in the state should have a bituminous (BT) road, including those in Tandas and Gudems, which have been upgraded to panchayats.

       

    This strategic investment aims to boost the rural economy, facilitate access to essential services, and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Telangana's rural areas.
